Congratulations 2023-24 Hank Manz Champion Whalers!
Wow! What a way to end the Hank Manz In-House season.
We had another two exciting games this morning and overtime couldn't decide either one. It was a shootout day of days.
First the Rangers and Flyers battled hard all game to end up tied after regulation, 5-5, and overtime, 6-6. It only took a single shootout round (3 shooters per team per round) to settle this one in the Rangers' favor to get the top seed into the Championship game.
Round 1: Rangers: √ - X - X Flyers: X - X - X
The Flyers ended their season on a run of 4 straight 1-goal games. It was a great march through the playoffs by the #7 seed.
Next up was the Championship game between the Rangers and Whalers, which ended regulation tied 0-0! The Rangers scored on their second line shift in overtime to take the 1-0 lead. The Whalers, in the midst of pulling their goalie for the extra skater, scored the tying goal on the last shift of overtime to tie the game at 1-1.
On to the shootout we went, and did we ever... It took 5 rounds of shooters with 29 shooters to decide the Championship as the Whalers won 2-1 via shootout to repeat as Manz In-House Champions! CONGRATULATIONS WHALERS!
The goalie play, each team had a third liner in net, was fabulous for both teams. The Rangers elected to shoot first:

The Rangers went 2/15 and the Whalers were 3/14! Talk about great goaltending by both teams!
Congratulations to the Flyers and Rangers for a great playoff run. The Rangers also had a fabulous season as the regular season, undefeated Champions! We hope they enjoyed the season and playoffs.
The Blackhawks also had a great playoff run as the #8 seed. They made it to the mid-week games on day 3 but lost a close one, 2-1 to the Flyers. The Kings and Maple Leafs both advanced to day 2 before bowing out including the Maple Leafs losing in a shootout to the Blackhawks. The Bruins and Canadiens gave it their all with the Bruins losing both games by a single goal including one in overtime.
The coaches and LBYH Board thanks you for playing this season and we hope your child(ren) enjoyed it. Don't forget to thank your coaches for all of their time and effort to ensure the season was a fun one. Thank you to the coordinators, Bryant and Rick, for all of their time and effort, too!
